Personally I think every small business needs some sort of blog along with their website. There are so many options that you can do with your business blog that really helps engagement and interaction with your followers and readers. Plus this leads to traffic and potential sales through your website as well.I understand how some people may feel that their blog doesn't really get the interaction or readership they're looking for and wonder why even bother with having one. If this sounds like something you have thought in the past, perhaps you are looking for ways to grow your audience and your blog engagement.

One of the first things you want to do is consistently publish content that addresses information that your readers want to know about your business or industry. How you find that information is to simply ask through surveys. Use Facebook or put a survey on your blog or maybe use Twitter to do a survey. Or choose a combination of all three for a good cross section for readers.

Also promote your content through your social media and through information dashboards like Reddit and StumbleUpon. This allows other people to discover your content and encourages interaction.

Another idea would be using guest blogging with like websites. You can write an article that their readers need and that allows a link back to yours. This will bring you readership from people that are interested in the topics you write and share.

Don't be afraid to spend a little money on boosting a particularly interesting article on your social media channels. Use great images that engage and relate directly to the content which not only allows for additional follow ship on your social media but a direct link to your blog content.

If you are finding your blog lacking is engagement or readership, then start publishing more content, not less. Be smart about sharing your content across multiple channels. You can develop a great business blog but it does take time and consistency.
