There are many tools in a small business developer’s toolbox that can be used to effectively grow and develop your business. Email marketing is one of those tools that has been effective since email became mainstream.

Those emails you collect can be a gold mine for your business. Email marketing is still a strong and effective tool, if it is used properly.

Here are some tips to help develop your marketing efforts when using email marketing and connecting with your marketing list.

6 Email Marketing Tips for Small Business Growth

  • Let them know what to expect from you when they sign up. How often will they hear from you? What can they expect from your emails?
  • Make sure you work on your subject title for the best open rate. You want to include the benefit to that reader and not just a sales pitch. Let them know what is in it for them!
  •  Make your marketing letter reflect in the same consistency as your website and other marketing materials. Logos, colors, and graphics enhance the letter and make it more personable. Plus it reflects the company brand as a whole.
  • Don't just make it about sales. Include tips, stories, news and information your customer may be interested in. Don’t forget showing them the ways that you can help serve them. Help them appreciate and look forward to opening your email.
  •  Make sure you are following through with the results of your email marketing. If you ask a question and receive emails back from your readers, ensure they're going to an address that you respond to and not just a no-reply email box. Email marketing is another way to converse and interact with your followers and customers, so be responsive.
  • Use a email marketing system that allows you to track your open rates. Practice your titles and work with your content, plus monitor your results for the best open rate and follow through. Note what works and what needs improvement.

Email marketing is not a lost cause like you may have been thinking. Millions of companies use it and use it effectively with growing results. Your business can too.
