It is a fact that email marketing is still an effective and a viable method for reaching your readership. Millions upon millions of people have email and use it regularly and with much of the marketing heading into the social media realm, many business owners seem to forget that the email marketing method is still strong and effective.

Have you been neglecting your email marketing? Maybe you have put it on the back burner while developing your social media marketing? If either of these sounds like you, it is time to get back to basics!

Need some help growing your list?

5 Tips to Grow Your Email Marketing List

  • Use social media to promote your list – you have a captive audience. Use it to help improve your email list
  • Make sure your sign up box is in a prominent location on your site – the best place has been found to be the top right corner
  • Make sure you offer a great reason for them to sign up and part with their private info – What is your why??
  • Offer something in exchange for their info – a white paper, an ebook, or something similar is a good incentive for most
  • Contests or giveaways can help add to your email list – if you have a retail business or a tangible item to offer, run a contest that requires the sign up through a list

Other great ideas that can help is to make sure you add your sign up box in additional areas on your site. Use of exit popup boxes are increasing and are apparently somewhat effective. Or add a mention at the bottom of a blog post or on your footer as well.

Don’t forget to add people you meet on a one on one basis. Networking events, speaking engagements, personal clients, etc.

Adding people to your list is the first step. Working on your content and copy is the next step. Once you get them to your site, conversions need to happen. That will be a topic to come in the future.
