The second thing you need to map out is the type of post that you want to deliver. What are the benefits of the topic you're talking about? What are you offering to the reader that will be a great takeaway to inspire them to continue to read your message, complete your call to action, and potentially become a valued client or customer? Be careful to not offer posts that are just sale pitches. Make sure you are answering the questions that your clients need.

The third thing that is critical for a successful business blog is the aesthetics of the site. Is it easy to read? Does it correlate and blend well to the rest of your site? Are there ads all over the site or is it user friendly and pleasing to the eye? Making your blog easy to read is as important as the content you place there.

Your business blog needs a plan of action just as your business did when you first started creating that in your head. Sit down with a pen and paper along with your mission statement and business plan and map out a strategy for your business blog. The two should mesh well and offer valuable content that gives your reader the benefit they are looking for as well as setting you apart from the rest of businesses similar to yours.
